CBT Skills Physician Treatment Groups

CBT Skills Treatment Groups for Mental Health are non-accredited programs designed for physicians and residents seeking support with anxiety, depression, or stress. These groups focus on clinical self-management and mental health support, helping participants build practical, evidence-based CBT skills to better manage their symptoms and overall wellbeing.

Each group is led by a Mind Space–affiliated psychiatrist with expertise in physician health, and is delivered virtually in small groups of up to 15 participants. The program runs over 8 weeks, with weekly 2-hour sessions, and is billed to MSP, with a refundable attendance deposit required. Following completion of the CBT Skills Treatment Group, participants can enroll (with referral) in additional MSP-funded virtual programs offered by Mind Space, including options such as mindfulness training and working with perfectionism and people-pleasing.

The upcoming schedule of CBT Skills Physician Treatment Groups for Mental Health is below:

To enroll in one of these cohorts:

  1. Ask your primary care clinician to fill out the universal Mind Space referral form. The referral form has a place to indicate “This patient is a physician”. This box must be checked, or your status as a physician noted in the comments section, in order for you to be offered the physician-only group.

Referrals require an identified diagnosis (e.g., anxiety, depression, adjustment disorder, phase of life issue, chronic medical condition with psychological factors) and a screen for depression severity. PHQ-9 score must be 18 or less to be eligible.

  1. Once referred by your doctor, you will be sent an invitation to register online. You can self-select into the Physician-Only CBT Skills Foundations group, or if another group fits your schedule better you could choose to join a group of patients from the general public. You will be asked to pay a $75 attendance deposit, which is refunded if you miss a maximum of 1 session. Regular attendance is requested.
